Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I have to attend an orientation to volunteer?
Yes. Once you have completed the onboarding process, you will receive a link to our video orientation along with additional resources to help you get started.
Are there virtual volunteer opportunities?
Yes. Our Card Program is a great virtual option. Meals on Wheels San Francisco provides an uplifting “thinking of you” card with each senior’s meal, and we currently serve over 3,500 seniors.
You can also support our mission financially. Click here to help us continue providing meals and services to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities in San Francisco.
Do I need to complete a background check if I’ve already done one for another organization?
Yes. All volunteers are required to complete an online background check through Sterling Volunteers specifically for Meals on Wheels San Francisco. If you sign up for a driving volunteer opportunity, we will also conduct a motor vehicle record (MVR) check through the DMV. The process typically takes about 5 minutes.
Are there volunteer opportunities on the weekend?
